This dissertation, in the field of History of Mathematics Education (HME), presents a history of the Regional Brazilian Society of Mathematics Education of Rio Grande do Norte (SBEM/RN) through a social and present-time perspective. Thus, based on this historiography, we ask: What do mathematics education undergraduates at UFRN and mathematics teachers in Basic Education in Rio Grande do Norte think about SBEM/RN? To answer this and other questions, our main objective was to analyze the relationship between mathematics education undergraduates at UFRN and mathematics teachers in Basic Education in RN with SBEM/RN. This research adopts a qualitative approach, using documentary research and questionnaire surveys. The questionnaire was administered to three undergraduate classes of the Mathematics Teaching degree at UFRN in the Natal campus, with the participation of 44 students. The results indicate that undergraduate students have little or no knowledge about SBEM/RN, showing a limited understanding of the Brazilian Society of Mathematics Education, as well as holding misconceptions about what constitutes a scientific society. This research is linked to the Professional Master's in Natural Sciences and Mathematics Education, thus it is necessary for the master's student to develop an Educational Product (EP). Therefore, we developed the Iconographic Book, titled "SBEM/RN: a possible history", given the material we had stored, including photos provided, images from the internet, and screenshots of websites that mentioned SBEM/RN. After the elaboration of the book, we applied the EP to the Mathematics Teaching undergraduate classes at UFRN, Natal campus, so that students could evaluate, critique, and provide suggestions for the EP.
