A mapping of the Multi Grade Classes with emphasis in the teaching of Mathematics from Rio Grande do Norte - BRAZIL

Centered in the Mathematics Education History and History of Present Time, this work gives a mapping of the Multi Grade Classes from Rio Grande do Norte, with emphasis in the Mathematics teaching. Multi Grade Classes are classes that understand the students from different communities, grades, ages, and knowledge level, having only one teacher responsible for the pedagogical work. In this context, the theme is guided by the following question: What Mathematics teaching is currently on the Multi Grade Classes in Rio Grande do Norte, during the triennium of 2017, 2018, 2019? As a goal to map the teaching of mathematics in multi graded classes of the Rio Grande do Norte State, and, aiming in giving visibility to classes of this nature, recognize the heritage of the High School practices in the present time, and elaborate a Iconographic Book as an Educational Product, that may be disseminated, analyzed and utilized by other teachers involved in the teachings of formal and informal spaces. This research has a qualitative character and combined distinct methodological procedures to compose the analyzed data; which are: documental research, field research, semi structured interviews and observation. Twelve teachers that teaches in the Multi Graded Classes were interviewed, representing 11 Regional Boards of Education and Culture (DIREC), of the 16 existing in the RN State. It shows as results the mapping of the teaching of Mathematics in the Multi Graded Classes, including teaching the four operations, the use of the didactic material, the use of the Golden Bead Material, the use of notebook, writing, reading, games, Geometry teaching, furthermore to show in the results that many of the present practices of the teachings are heritages of old practices from teachers that were naturalized in the classroom. The Educational Product of this research is a Iconographic Book, titled Diary of Board: A visit to the Multi Graded Classes in RN, containing pictures and parts of the interviews. It was presented to 41 Mathematics Graduating students - in person - and to Pedagogy students, virtually, all of them from the UFRN which evaluated the book. The book had good acceptance among the students to whom it was presented, there was noticed sensibilization and possible interest regarding the proposed theme. It is intended that this Educational Product, which gives the proper visibility that this classrooms deserves, function as a research material to teachers in initial and continued formation, as well as researches in the area.
