SUMMARY:

Introduction: Commercial platforms are widely used in research to evaluate and treat balance deficit in patients who suffered a stroke. However, they don’t provide a necessary specificity  for the limitations and/or compensations that these patients may have. It is also difficult to extract the captured data and it is questioned about the effectiveness of this capture. Objective: Develop a low-cost game platform "Game Balance" for analysis and training the balance in post-stroke patients. Materials and Methods: This is a cross-sectional study, quantitative, with a sample matched by age, male or female, divided into group 1 (post-stroke) and group 2 (healthy adults) recruited non-probabilistically for convenience and intentionally through contact with patients registered at FACISA’s School Clinic (Santa Cruz/RN) and also to divulgation the study through posts on social media. For the pilot project, 5 (five) individuals were recruited to direct the adjustment and improve the platform. They informed their difficulties and facilities through the System Usability Scale (SUS). For the project with post-stroke patients, the assessment consisted of the Mini Mental State Examination (MMSE), Functional Ambulation Categories (FAC), The modified Clinical Test of Sensory Interaction and Balance (mCTSIB), National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS), modified Rankin Scale (mRS), Fugl-Meyer Assessment Scale. The participants also were submitted to 4 (four) matches of the "Game Balance", one for familiarization and three for analysis from an average of their performance and they were questioned by the Intrinsic Motivation Task Evaluation Questionnaire about their experience with the game. At the end of the evaluation, the participants received a report in a simple speech about their performance in each test and in the "Game Balance". The statistical analysis was performed using the mean or median and standard deviation or quartiles, followed by correlation analysis using Spearman's coefficient based on the identification of normality or not of the data, in the software Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) version 20.0 with a significance level of 5%.
