SUMMARY:

The pelvic floor muscles function to support the pelvic organs, maintain continence of sphincters for the lower urinary tract and anorectal tract, and as an effector in the sexual arousal response. The effects of physical activity have been associated with pelvic floor dysfunction. With this, the objective of the study was to evaluate the repercussion of cycling and the sports practice of Crossfit in the sexual function of women. This is a cross-sectional and descriptive study, with a quantitative approach, carried out in the national territory, starting after approval by the Research Ethics Committee. For the recruitment of participants, the access link to the research form was sent via Google Forms. The sample was non-probabilistic, for convenience. Questionnaires were applied to assess sexual function, physical activity level and quality of life through the Female Sexual Function Index Questionnaire (FSFI), International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ), and PFDI 20. 47 were excluded for not meeting the inclusion criteria already described. Leaving a total of 96 women, 32 Crossfit practitioners (G1), 32 cyclists (G2) and 32 sedentary (GC). All groups had sexual dysfunction, the Crossfit and Cycling group corresponding to 81.2% and the sedentary group 65.6%, with the satisfaction domain being the most affected in all groups (G1 = 2.4; G2 = 2, 4; GC = 2.6). There was an intergroup difference in the FSFI desire domain (p = 0.043), with the CG having more impact in the desire domain than the Crossfit group (p=0.014). There was also an intergroup difference in the FSFI – Pain domain (p=0.012), in which the CG had a greater commitment in this domain than the Crossfit Group (p=0.033) and Cyclists (p=0.007). Regarding the analysis of the IPAQ, the G1 and G2 groups were classified as very active in terms of physical activity, and the CG as active, with statistical differences between the GC and Crossfit Group (p=0.000) and GC and Cyclists Group (p =0.000). It can be concluded, through the sample of this study, that in all groups women had sexual dysfunctions. The most obvious being dysfunctions of desire and pain. Sedentary women showed greater impairment in the pain and desire domain when compared to the Crossfit Group, and also had a greater impact in the pain domain when compared to the Crossfit and Cycling groups.
