Newborn, Physiotherapy, Respiratory Mechanics
Introduction: Although physiotherapy techniques contribute to a decrease in the work of breathing in newborns, they are applied through direct manual contact with the rib cage, which can interfere with pulmonary mechanics. Objective: to evaluate the effects of conventional physical therapy and non-conventional physical therapy on pulmonary mechanics in newborns. Methods: Electronic searches will be performed in the following databases: LILACS, Pubmed, SciELO, Science Direct, Cochrane Central and Web of Science. The methodological evaluation of the studies will be carried out using the PEDro scale and in the availability of data between the groups (conventional x non-conventional), the meta-analysis will be carried out using the Review Manager software. To assess the degree of uncertainty surrounding the evidence, the GRADE system will be applied. The review protocol was approved by PROSPERO in August / 2021 (CRD42021266729), the results obtained in newspapers and services at the national and international level and the information shared on social media platforms with accessible language.
