RESUMO:

Introduction: Cognitive aging is a continuous process of gradual progression, highly variable changes occur in cognitive function as people age. Some cognitive functions predictably decrease, such as memory and reaction, among the infectious diseases that may be involved in cognitive decline in the elderly, is toxoplasmosis. In view of the scarcity of studies addressing possible changes in cognitive and motor functions in the elderly affected by Toxoplasmosis, this research aims to promote cognitive and motor evaluation, proposing an intervention with simple tasks and double task, to discover the effects that this intervention will promote in these individuals. Objective: To evaluate the effects of the application of a proposal of a simple task and dual task, in the cognitive and physical-functional functions in seropositive and seronegative elderly for toxoplasmosis. Methods: This is a double blind clinical trial, the functional data collection will be performed at the Clinical School of Physiotherapy, Laboratory of Motor and Human Physiology and Laboratory of Physical Therapy Practices of the Faculty of Health Sciences of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (FACISA / UFRN). Sampling will be non-probabilistic, for convenience. It will be divided into two groups: G1 (composed of elderly who will perform the double task and simple task protocol, n = 20), G2 (composed of elderly who will perform the simple task protocol, n = 20). The sample number of 40 individuals, who after cognitive evaluation through the PCL instrument when they reach the score equal to or above 22 points, will be submitted to serological analysis and thus, divided into two groups, G1 = 20 (seropositive) and G2 = 20 seronegative) for T. gondii (Toxoplasmosis). The inclusion criteria adopted for both groups will be aged over 60 years and score equal to or higher than 22 points in the Leganés Competition (PCL). Elderly patients with severe orthopedic, neurological and rheumatic conditions or who have undergone any physiotherapeutic intervention in the last three months will be excluded from both groups. Expected results: It is expected to describe the cognitive and physical-functional profile of the elderly and to associate T. gondii infection; to verify the association between care measurements in the elderly with and without the infection; and to evaluate the interference of T. gondii infection associated with Rh factor in tasks that demands attention.
